Increased demand for corn putting pressure on prices for livestock producers - Officials say corn prices have increased significantly over the last few years and coupled with increased energy prices, livestock farmers throughout the country are struggling under the weight of increased costs.

Cherry forecast lowered in Keystone State - Pennsylvania's 2008 tart cherry production is forecast at 3.0 million pounds, which is 14 percent below last year's production.

Farm-to-School program hopes to connect Virginia farmers and schools - In order to get more locally-grown fresh fruit and vegetables into the diets of Virginia’s school children, a web site has been created to serve as a matchmaker for farmers and school food service directors. Officials say the site brings participants together in a "common goal to attack the problem of childhood obesity and provide better nutrition through consumption of fresh produce."

Let The Chips Fall: Penn State Supports State's Potato Chip Heritage - Once a year, the university's potato researchers switch from pipettes, computers and other high-tech equipment to potato peelers, slicers and a deep fryer. It's potato-chipping time.
