Corn production in Kentucky expected to be up 30% this year

Louisville, Kentucky - Corn production in Kentucky is now forecast at 275 million bushels, up 30% from the previous crop. Yield was estimated at 183 bushels per acre, up 27 bushels from the 2022 level. Acres for harvest as grain were estimated at 1.50 million acres, up 150,000 acres from 2022.

Nationwide, corn production is forecast at 15.2 billion bushels, up 1% from the October forecast and up 11% from 2022. Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 174.9 bushels per acre, up 1.9 bushels from last month and up 1.5 bushels from 2022. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 87.1 million acres, unchanged from the October forecast and up 10% from 2022.
