November 19 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently released its forecast for the cost of production for major field crops in 2025. After several years of significant increases, many farmers will see the cost of producing corn and soybeans remain fairly level when comparing 2025 with 2024.
For both corn and soybeans, fertilizer and fuel costs are expected to go down in 2025. The interest on operating capital is also likely to be lower. Seed costs in 2025 should be about the same as 2024, according to the USDA.
