Farmers in MD to be surveyed on pesticide use

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Beginning January 17 th , the Maryland Department of Agriculture
(MDA), along with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics
Service (NASS), will conduct the 2022 Pesticide Usage survey. This survey is the only
comprehensive measure of pesticide use in Maryland and helps MDA develop programs
for Maryland farmers and pest control operators.
With the assistance of survey respondents, this survey will also provide information
about pesticide usage, legislation, and regulations that is vital for making informed
decisions. The survey results will offer a trustworthy source of public information for all
members of the agriculture industry, as well as for industry representatives engaging
with policy makers at the state and federal levels.
The survey can be completed by mail or by phone. In accordance with federal law,
survey responses are kept confidential. Survey data will be available in aggregate form
only to ensure that no individual producer or operation can be identified. NASS will
combine data from respondents statewide, providing the only accurate and
comprehensive Maryland estimate of pesticide usage.
For more information about the Maryland Pesticide survey, call the NASS Northeastern
Regional Field Office at (800) 498-1518. All NASS reports and data are available online
