TN corn growers looking at 160 bpa yield this fall

NASHVILLE, TN - Corn production in Tennessee was forecast at 106 million bushels, down 31% from the previous crop. Yield was estimated at 160 bushels per acre, down 13 bushels from the 2023 level. Acres for harvest as grain were estimated at 660,000 acres, down 230,000 acres from 2023.

Soybean production for Tennessee was forecast at 88.2 million bushels, increased 10% from 2023. Yield was estimated at 49.0 bushels per acre, down 2.0 bushels from a year ago. Acreage for harvest as beans was estimated at 1.80 million acres, up 230,000 acres from the previous year.
Tennessee farmers expect to harvest 23.6 million bushels of winter wheat during 2024. The expected crop for 2024 would be down 24% from the previous year. Growers expect a yield of 76.0 bushels per acre, down 4.0 bushel from 2023 and unchanged from July. Farmers expect to harvest 310,000 acres for grain. Winter wheat production for the Nation was forecast at 1.36 billion bushels, up 9% from 2023.
Tennessee cotton production is projected to be 550,000 bales, down 19% from last year. Cotton yields are forecast to average 1,056 pounds per acre, down 194 pounds per acre from the previous year. Producers expect to harvest 250,000 acres, down 10,000 acres from 2023.
