Virginia farmer David Hula records highest yield in NCGA Corn Yield Contest

December 16 - The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is excited to announce the winners of the 2024 Yield Contest. Participants delivered outstanding yields, once again showcasing the ingenuity and resilience that define U.S. agriculture.


The highest yield for the year came out of Charles City, Virginia at 490.6276 bushels per acre in Class H (strip-till irrigated) for David Hula.


Hula set a new world record for corn yield in 2023 with 623.8439 bushels per acre, which beat his previous record of 616.1953 bushels per acre set in 2019.

"The Yield Contest continues to set the standard across the ag industry," said Illinois grower and NCGA President Kenneth Hartman, Jr. "This contest not only challenges farmers to showcase their expertise and innovation in growing successful corn crops, but it also generates invaluable agronomic data that drives continuous improvement and future success across agriculture."
